EHF policy
The EHF is not a tax. It funds the Return-It Electronics program.
As of August 1, 2007, an Environmental Handling Fee (EHF) is levied on the sale of new products in the designated categories. One-hundred percent (100%) of the program revenue will be used for the administration, collection, transportation, and responsible recycling of end-of-life electronics.
Products not regulated within the program will not have a fee levied and, consequently, will not be accepted at Return-It Electronics collection sites.
